The longest chapter in Machiavelli’s masterpiece Discourses On Livy is entitled “On Conspiracies”. He praised the conspiracy as the best way to overthrow any regime because: “… being able to wage an open war… is only granted to a few; To be able to conspire against them is a matter of course for everyone. ”In typical Machiavellian fashion, the chapter praises deception, deception and lies to promote private gain as the right course of action – that is, if they want to bring about a change of regime.
Compare this to the doctrines of anarcho-capitalism based on principles and deduction, the root principle being that of natural law. It starts with assertions, and all of its ethics, politics, and economics grow from that root.
For decades, their prospects looked bleak. The call to return to the gold standard, expand the libertarian “party”, run local elections, and infiltrate think tanks – or worse, the Senate – has been the dominant strategy. According to their logic, even a revolution was questionable, since it essentially consisted of “driving out one gang of thieves for another” (“Democracy, The God That Failed”). The study of natural law is achieved a priori, i.e. only knowledge derived from principles, e.g. observations) were these: The world is ruled by a tyrannical elite that uses the central bank, resulting in the constant destruction of wealth, continuous wars and a growing bureaucracy that seeks to regulate every aspect of an individual’s private life. They made it clear what the actions of these tyrants will achieve and what they are up to. They never made it clear what to do with them. It took Bitcoin, a technology, to show the way with the greatest impact.
We’ve heard that Bitcoin is being referred to as anything from a “macro hedge” to a protocol that is redefining time and space. Here’s another one – a tool for maximum impact in our conspiracy to overthrow the useless bureaucratic ruling class. As Greek shipowner Aristotle Onassis said, “The secret of business is knowing something that no one else knows.” Replace “business” with “distributed monetary engineering protocols” and you have the universe of Machiavellian bitcoin – focused only for effect, not for principles or ethics. To win here.
If you’ve been buying Bitcoin for a long time, what do you know that bureaucrats don’t do? The answers are obvious: hard money as a determining factor for value retention, final settlement without third parties, control over your property through the magic of cryptography. But notice what is on the other side of each of these value propositions – outsmarting people, belittling the value storage abilities of money, bypassing any and all third parties that make property seizure by bureaucrats impossible. On the other side of the wonderful things Bitcoin can do for an individual, it is what it can do for our collective: defeat a well-defined enemy.
The road ahead is long and certainly not over, but Bitcoiners can say with confidence that this enemy has been swiftly outwitted so far. With only about 2.5 million BTC currently floating around on exchanges, it means the vast majority of BTC is already secured and held, likely by people who knew something their respective bureaucratic overlords did not know. If the bureaucrats knew, the price would have skyrocketed considering that there are millions of them in the US alone. Because of their sheer tenacity and realism, Bitcoiners insist that the whole world is competing in an arms race for only about 13% of the total supply – that is, for our scrap. History will read this as a checkmate. When demand increases and the price increases, an option remains for bureaucrats on how to cleverly get bitcoiners to sell their bitcoins. I encourage you not to do this so that when the time is right we can take action and build a world free of these parasites and, for once, actually win.
