The “all-digital” payment processor Flexa has added support for ADA, the native cryptocurrency of the Cardano blockchain, adding to the network’s ever-growing list of available payment options.
“Finally Cardano’s native asset is live on Flexa. Now you can spend your $ ADA instantly in over 40,000 locations across the US! ”Flexa tweeted this past weekend.

Flexa launched its crypto wallet called SPEDN in the US in May 2019. Initially, the network allowed users to pay with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Gemini dollars in retail stores, including top brands like Whole Foods, Baskin Robbins, Lowe’s, and Nordstrom. Around the same time, Flexa also partnered with the Winklevoss-run crypto exchange Gemini.
According to the announcement, SPEDN users can already try out instant ADA payments on the network. For example, to buy tickets for an American cinema chain, Regal Cinemas, which entered into a partnership with Flexa at the end of November “to enable payments in digital currency for films and more”.
Regals Chief Marketing Officer Ken Thewes states in the press release:
“Regal aims to be ‘the best place to watch a movie’. As more and more of our customers are demanding digital asset solutions and more secure payment methods, we are grateful to have found a partner in Flexa, a company that is revolutionizing digital payments with the latest software and an innovative business platform. “
Quantum of comfort
Flexa’s latest announcement could have sweetened the pill for many Cardano enthusiasts who were upset with crypto payment provider BitPay last week. As reported by CryptoSlate, BitPay has added the popular “meme” token Shiba Inu (SHIB) to its platform – despite ADA’s leadership in the company’s user survey.
Back then, even Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson questioned BitPay’s decision.

Meanwhile, Flexa added SHIB to its platform just days earlier. Now, however, the holders of both tokens can redeem them equally in Flexa’s partner shops.
