According to new data from LinkedIn, a professional work-based social network, the number of cryptocurrency-related job postings surged in 2021. The increase was even higher than the general increase in tech job postings. The nature of these positions is also diversifying as different industries require employees with crypto expertise.
LinkedIn says crypto jobs are on the rise
An analysis of the cryptocurrency jobs sector conducted by work-based social network Linkedin found that cryptocurrency job postings have surged in 2021 even compared to other growing fields. The company said that job postings containing the words “Ethereum,” “Bitcoin,” and “cryptocurrency” grew nearly 400% year over year in 2021. The space even outgrew the tech sector, which only managed to grow 98% of its job openings over the same period.
The analysis concluded that this demand had to do with the inflow of funds that has flooded the crypto environment over the past year: $30 billion has been pumped into the crypto ecosystem over the past year, and this has led to many Companies needed people to develop crypto-related projects. Crypto’s public exposure and the new bull market that began last year also had to do with this growth.
Crypto Extension
While most of the posts were related to finance and software development, other industries such as accounting and consulting are now also looking for crypto-savvy talent. Personal and computer hardware services were also mentioned.
Crypto companies are also poaching executives and employees from other companies in the finance and technology space as the field becomes more in-demand. This phenomenon occurs not only in the US, but also in other countries where crypto has gained popularity, such as Korea. Last year saw an exodus of finance officials in the country as government officials and former regulators left their jobs to work for cryptocurrency exchanges.
The crypto boom has also seen some non-industry companies jump on the crypto bandwagon, creating jobs in traditional companies like Accenture, KPMG, PayPal Holdings Inc., and JPMorgan Chase & Co, which now have divisions dedicated to crypto dedicate cryptocurrency.
