SINGAPORE, Dec 21, 2021 – Singapore startup Affyn, a blockchain-powered Metaverse project, is developing a free-to-play and play-to-earn mobile game with built-in geolocation and augmented reality (AR) capability.
Rethinking free-to-play and play-to-earn
As a metaverse-based project with geolocation functionality and AR mechanics, Affyn integrates the fun concept where every in-game character they call “Buddy” is a non-fungible token (NFT). If you’re new to NFT, it just means that the buddy is actually yours, not the game developers. This disrupts the traditional gaming industry, where players grind thousands of hours for in-game items and currency that they don’t actually own.
Creating a closed economy
Much like every game has its own currencies, Affyn’s currency is also known as a FYN token. The use of FYN tokens should be very versatile – apart from the usual in-game transactions, it is in the process of taking over the real use. By creating this integrated ecosystem where players can virtually earn the tokens and use them in the real world, a closed economy is created that increases the value of FYN tokens.
Ensuring a sustainable gaming industry
Affyn is one of the pioneers of the mobile play-to-earn model, which was developed with the intention of changing the way in which players can derive value from the ecosystem compared to traditional gaming platforms. The team spent more than a year creating a detailed blueprint to create a sustainable gaming economy.
This helps keep rewards attractive to existing and new players over the long term.
Lucaz Lee, founder and chief executive officer, who leads the fundraising, explains why he started this project: “Our idea of a metaverse is a world in which people meet, play and play not only virtually but also in real life can connect. By using blockchain technology as a bridge, Affyn wants to drive a global movement where we can play, earn and have more fun at the same time. “
