The Miami Beach Convention Center won silver at the 5th Annual Stella Awards this month. It took second place among the best convention centers in the southeast region.
David Whitaker, President and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, said, “Miami and Miami Beach offer everything companies need for a functional and enjoyable meeting experience. The Convention Center is an important part of it, and the recognition from the Northstar Meetings Group is a testament to Miami’s appeal in the meeting industry. “
Northstar Meetings Group released the news when several organizations from around the world were recognized for providing quality service and innovation to meeting and event professionals. The Stella Awards are the highest honor in the conference industry and honor hotels, convention centers, conference centers, airlines, cruise lines, DMOs / CVBs and DMCs. The Miami Convention Center stood out from the more than 600 entries submitted this year.
“The Miami Beach Convention Center is one of our shining jewels,” said City Manager Alina T. Hudak. “This award sends a message to event planners everywhere that Miami Beach is ready to host their events in a world-class venue with a beautiful setting.”
“Much of the success of Miami and Miami Beach as a convention destination is the phenomenal work and dedication of our great team,” said Spectra’s General Manager of the MBCC. “I am very proud of your efforts to keep the MBCC venue ready during the global pandemic and to instill people’s confidence to meet safely. We look forward to building on our now award-winning service and continuously exceeding our customers’ expectations. “
The 1.4 million square meter, LEED certified convention center is located in the heart of Miami Beach. After the sessions were suspended during the pandemic, the MBCC was one of the first to welcome in-person events and trade shows again from March 2021.
This Stella Award reflects the hard work of the MBCC team to ensure that service, safety and innovation were a priority when the facility returned to operation. With 14 major congresses and conferences, including the world’s largest Bitcoin conference to be held at the destination in 2022, MBCC and GMCVB are excited about the future of the events.
